Les Funambules
Un jour… nous est venue l’idée de créer une galerie d’art qui serait un lieu convivial, à la fois atelier et espace d’exposition pour Matthieu, mais aussi où l’on pourrait accueillir d’autres créations.
En 2004, nous inaugurions la galerie les Funambules, d’abord sur le port, puis 5 ans plus tard dans un quartier que nous aimons tant, car il regorge de bonnes adresses : face à la halle aux poissons.
Depuis tout ce temps, nous voulons tout simplement faire découvrir à chaque visiteur des artistes contemporains, tous professionnels, locaux ou non, et surtout dont nous partageons l’émotion.
Notre sélection est variée comme nos goûts ; nous aimons la mer bien sûr, mais pas seulement, aussi la lumière, la matière, avant tout les regards singuliers.
Au fil des années, la liste des artistes sélectionnés s’étoffe, mais nous restons fidèles aux rencontres de la première heure comme à celles d’aujourd’hui car c’est dans le temps que la confiance s’installe tant avec les artistes qu’avec nos clients.

One day, we came with an idea to create an art gallery that would be a friendly place, both a studio and exhibition space for Matthieu, but also where we could welcome the work of others.
In 2004, we opened the gallery « les Funambules » (the tightrope walkers) on the left bank of the port of Vannes with the confidence of several artists — some old friends and some new acquaintances we met here.
Five years later, we crossed the remparts and settled into our current space facing la Halle aux Poissons (the fish market). It’s an area we love so much, a vibrant spot, hosting the market twice a week, summer or winter.
All along, for every visitor who pushes open our door, we are committed to finding professional, contemporary artists, local or not, especially those whose emotions we share.
Our selection is varied like our tastes: we love the sea, of course, but not only. We feature work for the light, the subject matter, and above all, the unique perspective of the artist. Over the years, the list of our « artistes-funambules » has continued to grow, but we stay faithful to our original artists as well as discovering new partners.
